6/7/2013On June 6th, the Kindergarten students joined with the Master Gardeners to harvest their Peter Rabbit Gardens. They picked lettuce, cabbage, parsley, onions, peas, and radishes. After some cleaning and chopping, the students enjoyed a delicious green salad. 6/2/2013
Located 70 miles from Charlottesville, you can visit Amazement Square- The Rightmire Children's Museum- filled with hands on exhibits for all ages! There are 4 floors of interactive activities. The museum includes the tallest indoor climbing structure in the nation, the Amazement Tower extends through all four floors of the museum and reaches into an observation deck on the roof. An endless maze of slides, ladders, tunnels and a zip-line is a fun place for all ages!
There is a building room to explore your skills as an architect, an art center where you paint right on the walls, and space to explore musical instruments. The current touring exhibit is all about BUGS!

Do you love airplanes? This is the weekend trip for you. Bealeton is located 30 minutes north of Culpeper. You can watch a parachute jumper or a wingwalker each Sunday from 2:30-4:00. Check out this website for more details, prices and pictures.

Hot Air Balloon Festival on August 17th and 18th. Balloons launch twice a day at 7 am and 6 pm. BEAUTIFUL SITE!!!
A great trip for 4th Graders!
The park includes the site of the raid of John Brown, three Civil War battles, hiking trails, a quaint village with historical museums, stores and a wonderful bookshop!

Building a Computer from Parts
Can you count to two? If yes, then you can build a complete computer system from parts and load the operating system. Learn about computer system fundamentals including the binary number system and logic gates, the elements of any computer system and operations at a basic level. Mark Fitzgerald teaches electronics at PVCC.

LEGO YOUniverse: Make Your Own Adventure
In this LEGO adventure, YOU are the star! Pick your favorite LEGO genre or create an alternate universe to create a digital illustrated story. Whether you want to fight alongside Batman, be part of a Ninjago clan, swashbuckle with pirates or go into space with Bionicle, the only requirement is that you put yourself in the story! All students will end the class with a digital comic book that can be shared with friends and family on a password-protected Black Rocket website!

Make It Come Alive with Computer Science!
Do you like to create games and images on the computer? Have you ever wanted to design your own computer program? Create a sound and animation project with 3-D software! Learn programming skills through a number of short workshops designed to help you get started on your own projects. New and returning programmers welcome! Become a Fashion Designer!
Become a fashion designer for a week in this exciting class! Choose fabric swatches to create a theme for a virtual line of clothing, and draw and paint with the use of templates (croquis) for fashion design. Learn how to make fashion accessories. Learn basic fabric cutting
and hand sewing skills. Design and sew fabric jewelry and up-cycle your clothing for a fashion show at the end of the week. Kimberly Ramberg is a sewing and fashion design instructor for children and adults at Les Fabriques. Rising 6th-9th graders

Board Game Design
Do you want to learn the strategies behind your favorite board games and design your own game? Learn the history and development of abstract games (chess, checkers), card games, family games (Monopoly, Settlers of Catan) and role-playing games while playing them with other game enthusiasts. Create and teach others your own strategic board game. Play games from the instructor's extensive collection of 200+ games. PVCC English Professor Bruce Glassco most recently published a new board game, Betrayal at House on the Hill.

This is the contest for you!
Visit 4 historical places in Orange County and write about what you learned. Turn in your paper work by May 13th and you will be invited to a special reception in your honor on May 23rd at the Taylor Educational Building.
