Mrs. Burke's Homework Letter March 8

March 8-12, 2010

Dear Parents,

Please initial below the day when your child has completed the assignment.  Here is the homework for this week.  Go to First in Math if possible.  Keep track of books read for the "Book-It!" program to receive a certificate for a free personal pan pizza at the end of the month.  For Book-It any book is fine, read to or by your child.  Happy reading!

This week at home practice these reading skills: 

1)  Fantasy or Realism?

I will answer questions about a story.  I will decide if the story is a fantasy or realistic. 

2)  Read with fluency and expression:

I will make my reading voice sound like talking.

Each day, look over the study guides for maps and data/graphing.

Monday:   Read for 20 minutes.

                Math, do page 334.    

                Play on your tens and ones chart.

                Word Study, cut and sort 2 times. 

Tuesday:  Read for 20 minutes.                                

                 Word Study, sort 2 times. 

                 Do math page 335.  Practice skip counting.

                 Practice counting backwards from 30.

Wednesday:  Read for 20 minutes.                                  

                 Word Study, sort 2 times. 

                 Do math pages 343.  FIM 

                 Play on your Hundred Chart.

Thursday:  Read for 20 minutes.

                  Do math page 344.

                  Word study test tomorrow.

Friday:  No homework.  Enjoy your weekend! 

             Have fun reading and playing in First In Math!

                Play on your tens and ones chart.

Tuesday:  Read green or little book.                                

                 Word Study, cut and sort 2 times. 

                 Do math page 295.

                 Practice counting backwards from 30.

Wednesday:  Read Scholastic News and green or little book.                                  

                 Word Study, sort 2 times. 

                 Do math pages 69-70.  FIM 

                 Play on your Hundred Chart.

Thursday:  Read green or little books.

                  Do math pages 71-72.

                  Word study test tomorrow.

Friday:  No homework.  Enjoy your weekend!
